Spanish Fork is located in the south part of the county about 10 miles south of Provo. The town was settled by Mormon Pioneers in 1851, and has grown to a population of about 40,000 to date.
The city hosts a number of large-scale events in the town each year. The first of these events is Icelandic Days. Spanish Fork was the first Icelandic settlement in the US. The festival is a three-day event celebrating Iceland’s heritage. Second, the town has the Festival of Lights from the end of November through New Years. It is a drive through light show with accompanying Christmas music. Another one of these events is Fiesta Days. This festival is around Pioneer Day in July. It includes such activities as a craft fair, duck races, a rodeo, carnival, and firework show. Finally, Spanish Fork is home to the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple, which hosts the Festival of Colors. People from all over the country come to heave massive amounts of chalk in the air to create a beautiful display of colors.
